Keeping your shed in great condition is simple with a little routine care. Use this checklist each month, season, and year to avoid costly repairs and extend the life of your shed.
Monthly Maintenance
✔ Inspect the exterior for cracks, loose shingles, or other signs of damage.
✔ Test doors and windows to ensure they open and close smoothly.
✔ Sweep out any debris and check for moisture inside.
✔ Make sure the ridge vent or gable vents are allowing proper airflow.

Spring/Summer Maintenance
✔ Clean out gutters (if installed) to avoid water backup.
✔ Inspect roof shingles for curling, cracks, or loss of granules.
✔ Clear debris from ridge or gable vents.
✔ Check foundation or blocks for shifting or cracks.
✔ Repaint or reseal exterior siding and trim, as needed.
✔ Inspect siding for signs of wear, mold, or water damage.

Fall/Winter Maintenance
✔ Look for water pooling near the foundation after rain or snow.
✔ Inspect joists or flooring for signs of rot or weakness.
✔ Check insulation (if installed) to ensure it’s dry and intact.

Annual Maintenance
✔ Deep clean inside and out (walls, windows, floor, corners).
✔ Repaint or reseal LP Smartside siding and trim.
✔ Lubricate hinges, locks, and door latches.
✔ Reorganize and clean any shelving, racks, or tools.
✔ Inspect any installed utilities like lighting or power connections.

Final Annual Checklist
☐ Is the shed structurally sound?
☐ Are there any visible leaks, cracks, or signs of rot?
☐ Do doors and windows function properly?
☐ Is there proper airflow and ventilation?
☐ Is the shed clean, safe, and free from clutter?
